India – Four Seasons Mumbai’s newly renovated rooms an ode to the Textile Legacy

3 mins read

Since its opening 15 years ago, Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai has now renovated its rooms, attributing the fabrics used in the design to be an ode to the textile heritage of Mumbai.  One the most transformative moments of Mumbai’s history, was the establishment of the first textile mill in Mumbai in 1854 by visionary entrepreneur, Cowasji Nanabhai Davar. The area that surrounds Four Seasons also became home to a host of large textile mills, which shaped the economic and social landscape of the city for decades to come. Fueling unprecedented economic growth, the mills created job opportunities for thousands of workers, led to rapid urbanization and labour migration, and laid the foundation for the multicultural metropolis it is today.

The redesigned rooms are a canvas of the city’s textile artistry, featuring geometric borders, deep hues, and patterns reminiscent of traditional sarees. The decor’s intricate details, from peacock-inspired wallpaper in the walk-in closets to the fluted upholstered headboards, celebrate the opulence of Indian textiles, paying tribute to the textile districts that surround the hotel.

Of note is the Lutron technology, which allows guests to control lighting and ambiance effortlessly, while adjustable blackout curtains provide natural light control at the touch of your fingertips. The desk can transform into a multi-functional table, offering flexibility for both work and leisure.

There’s even more to look forward to with the soon-to-be-launched lobby restaurant, Opus, featuring a central, one-of-a-kind coffee bar. Additionally, the upcoming Four Seasons Residences will offer a new level of luxury living.
